About this site
There are two boat tours at Niagara Falls, they are almost identical, and choosing between them is harder than it should be because most of what is written about them is written by people selling one of them. That is the gap this site exists to fill.
What we are, plainly
We are an independent guide to the two boats that run to the base of Niagara Falls: Maid of the Mist from Niagara Falls State Park in New York, and Niagara City Cruises from the lower gorge in Ontario.
We do not own a boat. We do not crew one, we do not sell tickets for one, and we are not affiliated with Maid of the Mist Corporation, Niagara City Cruises, City Experiences, Niagara Parks or New York State Parks. When we recommend a tour we link to a real listing on GetYourGuide or Viator, and if you book through it we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is disclosed on every page in the footer and set out in full on our disclosure page.
Who writes this
We would rather say that plainly than invent someone. The named author credit for this site is being finalised and will identify a real person, with a real photograph and stated credentials in the Niagara region.
Until that is in place, this site makes no first-person experiential claims. You will not find "I rode the boat at dawn and here is how it felt" anywhere on it, because nobody here is currently in a position to write that honestly. What you will find is verified reporting: operator figures, parks-authority facts, and what real visitors consistently report, described as exactly that.
Where the numbers come from
Every figure on this site is traceable. Nothing is estimated to fill a gap.

What we refuse to do
These are worth stating because the alternative is common in this category.
We do not invent ratings. If we could not read a product's star rating off its live listing, the card for that product says so instead of showing a number. There is at least one product on this site displayed that way, and it stays that way until someone verifies it.
We do not print tour package prices. They move by date, party size and currency, so quoting one is a promise we cannot keep. Operator fares are different: they are published primary-source figures and we quote them with attribution.
We do not pretend the boats run in winter. Five months a year they do not, and a great deal of Niagara content is quietly unclear about this because the search traffic exists year-round.
We drop claims we cannot source properly. During research a live-search pass returned two useful-sounding facts whose only source was a Facebook post. Both were cut rather than published, and the decision is recorded in our research notes.
We do not link to ticket resellers or coupon farms. External links come from a fixed whitelist of operators, parks authorities and regulators built during research.
How we decide what to recommend
The featured product on this site is the one with the strongest verified social proof that actually includes a boat ride, not the one paying the highest commission. Where a product has too few reviews to mean anything, we say so rather than presenting a 5.0 rating built on five reviews as though it were meaningful.
We also say when the honest answer is "it does not matter". The two boats are close to identical, and any page ranking them on how close they get to the falls is guessing. Our comparison page says exactly that.
Corrections
Fares change, seasons shift and operators rebrand. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it. That is not a formality; a fair amount of what is published about Niagara is several seasons stale, and this site is only useful if it is not.
